Those were pre-orders on the 29th, everyone still has to wait a couple of weeks to actually get them. So the one on eBay is either a fake auction, a review sample, or someone managed to snag one early somehow.

My understanding was that the individual is selling the pre order, sending the buyer the phone once he/she receives it.

This. Kind of dumb since you will probably be able to buy it from any carrier without wait before the preorder ships.

Oh, I didn't even look at the auction.

Carriers will have them in November (at least I know T-Mobile will). There's really no need for OP to feel regret at missing the very first pre-order window.

OP, don't feel bad. There's probably thousands of people who missed out on the pre-order too.
Looks like Google dropped the ball on this pre-order (again!). Curious to see how many pre-orders went through, may not even break a thousand.

I'll just have to hold on to my gnex and 800 bux just a little while longer. Dammit Google! you had one job...

$2K? For a Nexus device? 4 years ago it was pretty nuts to see iPhones go on ebay for $1K. How things have changed.

Theres no way Google will sell that many of these.
Maybe its a tactic to sell few and put them backorder to create buzz.
If they prove me wrong, good for them.

I can see how someone could be using such an auction as percent-less loan. Lets say you need to burrow 2k from someone. But no one wants to give it to ya. So you make this auction, and in November you tell the buyer that the phone arrived damaged or you never got it, and you refund his money.

Dishonest, unethical, but brilliant!

Still using a gnex? Wow. I couldn't get past the 2 hour battery life.

There's no way Google sold many Nexus 6s at pre-order anyway. I have yet to see anyone claim they got in on a preorder. At least with the N4, thousands were able to get in, and even after having the order page show up later during the day and several days later, I think the first month's orders were probably around 50,000 or so only.
