Free HDD, Free M/B or Free Flash Drive

I think you are too much!! How could you say this is Stupid Promotion???

I think he might've meant crazy stupid (which means it would be very good, as in Newegg is crazy stupid to be giving away so much).

Its a decent deal if you need a top of the line socket 754 CPU.

Its OEM, so it looks like Newegg might be liquidating their OEM AMD CPUs (since AMD is moving to stop OEM sales) to appease AMD.

Probably also good to mention that you need to buy the AMD CPU in order to get the free gift :)

ive been thinking about a quik upgarde for my cpu that wouldnt make me replace my agp video card. Would this motherboard/cpu combo be a big upgrade from a 875p motherboard with a 3ghz processor in it?

I think you'd be better off getting a socket 939 3000+ and something like the ASRock Dual-SATA 2 board. It'd let you keep your current stuff, but you'll have room to upgrade later. I think you'd notice quite a bit of an improvement in gaming performance over your 3.0Ghz P4.

Yep, if you order a combo from MonarchPC.com you'll end up better off. You can get the 3000+ and that mobo for less than this, or you can go for the opteron 146 for about $40 more, but you'd get full 1M cache and a slight speed bump (2.0 vs 1.8 for the 3000+). You would also get HL2 and Bet on Soldier, as well as a few other things, free.

is the 3000+ of similar speed as the clawhammer advertised here?

Nothing is for free (truly). Somebody pays for it. That being said, 1) it's a Socket 754 cpu, a dead platform and 2) it doesn't cost them as much as the prices they've posted for the "free" items. Those "free" cost Newegg much less and they are probably liquidating them too. That HDD is probably <$20 after rebate at several retail outlets.

The motherboard isn't too bad though. That would be the only option I would truly be interested in, the thumbdrive maybe if you really needed one.

i ended up buying it. What sold me was when my chipset heatsink fell off my motherboard onto my videocard as i was contemplating the upgrade.

I bought this when the deal was the same price, but the Hard drive was the only option, I figured I'd do it even tho I have no use for the HD...

that was about a week ago, in fact the package just got here yesterday...

I really need the MOBO to put my old proc in and build a file server, I called CS, but they wouldn't swap the free gift.

IF ANYONE ELSE IS BUYING THIS, AND WANTS THE HD, I HAVE IT, UNOPEND, IF YOU GET THE MOBO FROM NEWEGG, I' LL TRADE YOU THE HD, AND PAY SHPPING BOTH WAYS...

the CS rep wasn't giving me any good reason they wouldnt swap, uppon talking to her manager, I managed to fanagle a $25 credit to my account out of her, so no bad feelings, I can take that money and put it towards trading with one of you kind folks...

PM me w/Q?s

not quite. I got this, a refurb. sata HD, nice optical drive (sony dru800a), cpu heatsink, w/ creamique & free newegg sticker for $339.65 - I had a spare old crt monitor, stick o' ram, and keyboard + mouse, and a REALLY crappy psu (150 watt, 8 amp on the 12v), which I'll probably have to replace, and a server case- but 20 pin won't reach the MB with the PSU mounted :( (it IS a servercase, afterall- more than 2 feet tall) So my next order is going to be a psu power cord extension, and maybe a new psu. I think it will come out to, overall, <$400.
