Crazy HD Tach readings

Hi! I just got my Quantum Fireball Plus AS (yes, I know, the 60 GXP is better, but it's impossible to get one in Brazil), installed Windows XP, some software, and went to test it with HD Tach. Something tells me this just ain't right... I'm getting 12.9ms random access, and 74.7 mbps read burst speed. Here's the HD Tach screen, and here's the HD Tach screen for the Plus AS at Club Overclocker.

What do you make of this readings? I'm I getting those results because I'm testing a partitioned drive?

Well first of all we can't see your screen shot, it says forbidden or something. Secondly, what is wrong with a burst of 75MB's and a RAT of 12.9?

Ok, fixed the link. I don't know if a RAT of 12.9 is ok or not. All I know is that in the Club Overclocker's test they got 9.8ms RAT and higher read speeds, not to mention that the performance didn't decrease as it did on my test...

I noticed you are running Win XP. First of all I have a question, how are all of you getting XP before it's release date?

Secondly I am running a dual boot 2K and ME, when i run HD Tach on my 30gig drive from ME, it lokks a lot like the graph from club overclocker, where as if I run it on the same drive from 2K, it looks more liek your drive. If you notice on the club OC graph they only record a little oer 7 gig, where as in your graph, you chart over 30. I can't explain this, but it seems to me that ME scans less and yields better results then 2K, and maybe XP. I thought it was just something wrong with my system, but now seeing you have almost the exact same outputs, it makes me wonder. Wish i could help you figure it out, btu I think your scores are okay.

I just ran HD tach on my 30gig Diamond max Plus 60 under ME and it yielded slightly better results then yours, but only by a small margin.

Some have it through a MSDN subscription, but most of them got it through piracy sources.

Must be the difference between NTFS and FAT32...

Your scores are right where they should be. OC ran the benchmark improperly, not enabling advanced size check. Not doing that means only the first 8GB of the drive are tested artificially lowering access time results and increasing average STR. The file system has no real affect on the result.
