Crazy fast internet college campus question...

Hi, new to the boards, didnt see a software section, so guess ill ask here...quick question.

Alright, heres the scoop. I go to EIU, and our college internet sucks.

Gotta log in to this "Cisco clean access" crap that scans our comp, makes sure were up to date, blablala BS.

I get around 20kbps on downloads and browsing, sometimes up to 30 late at night. Ugh, I get like 850kbps at home, I miss it.

So heres the catch, EVERY single .mov file, downloads at blazing fast speeds. For some reason .mov files bypass the cap they have on us, and gets priority. I think its our deal with apple...because we get apple reps here all the time pushing ipods, all our ipods we get discounts on, etc.

.zip, .exe, .rar, .wmv, ANYTHING files = 20kbps
.mov files = 4-6 MEGABYTES per second

So im thinking, is there a way to trick it into thinking say...a huge .zip is a .mov? Bypassing the cap?

I tested with something like the newest rls of NERO, save target as, nero.mov, eh, nothin, any way I can somehow trick it into thinking server side that its actually a .mov, therefore giving me super speeds with whatever i want?

Or am i doomed with the crap speeds forever.

I probably should go to bed.

when u about to download it change the extension to .mov, once u finished just rename it back to .zip
In xp u have to go Tool > Folder options > View > and unselect "hide extensions for known file types"
Then u should be able to edit the extension when u selecting the place u want the filke downloaded to.
That might work.
