So my first pcixpress slot is not working i notice some of the metal pins in bent downwards. If i put my gpu in the second slot will i recieve full x16 bandwith this is with a amd 6990

Thanks and also anyone think i can bend the pin heads back up?

It'll only work in the second slot at x16 is you smash it down hard, and at a slight angle.

If you bought a 6990 and know the model of board you have, then you know the answer to this stupid question.

Nice first post, and welcome!

I just built my first computer and finally have it working, I am really not big on the idea of replacing the motherboard so i was curious if i received full bandwith on the second pci express lane with one single 6990. I actually called asus and the man i spoke to said that i would. If anyone could confirm this it would make me sleep better or i need to get moving and take everything apart......

Thanks

Sorry for the asshole reply - I thought you were a troll. If your board came like that you should RMA immediately... otherwise the second slot will work, but at x8. The manual states x16 in the primary only, i.e. 16/0 or 8/8.

Postscript: Thats a hell of a machine for a first build.

Hmm I am going to download 3dmark and compare my results with tomshardware, if im running at only x8 then the results should be significantly reduced.

Ok so on 1280x720p 3dmark which i believe is what toms hardware refers to as performance default i got the following numbers

3DMark Score
P9195
Graphics score
9592
Physics Score
8816
Combined Score
7383
GraphicsTest1
41.2 FPS
GraphicsTest2
50.01 FPS
GraphicsTest3
59.01 FPS
GraphicsTest4
28.82 FPS
PhysicsTest
27.99 FPS
CombinedTest
34.34 FPS

Which if u take a look at toms results is near identical http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-6990-antilles-crossfire,2878-5.html

This would lead me to believe that the second slot is indeed full bandwidth unless he runs it in extreme x but under test parameters he says performance default

Interesting; learning that bit of info might help me with cooling in some single-card systems. Congratulations!

Not sure if anyone cares but i did one more additional test and 2560x1600 since that will tax the card the most my results were

3DMark Score
0
Graphics score
1816
Physics Score
8749
Combined Score
2381
demo
N/A
GraphicsTest1
7.89 FPS
GraphicsTest2
9.86 FPS
GraphicsTest3
9.42 FPS
GraphicsTest4
5.81 FPS
PhysicsTest
27.78 FPS
CombinedTest
11.08 FPS

If u note the graphic score of 1816 u can compare it to http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/AMD-Radeon-HD-6990-Video-Card-Review/1213/11 which achieved a score of 1884.

I can officially say i am sold that both the first pci xpress slot and second pci express slot on the asus p67 deluxe with one single gpu will perform at full x16 bandwith
