craziest thing - graphics card died

I was typing a paper on my laptop and i needed to get some info off the internet. so i was unplugging my ethernet cord from the back of my desktop to plug into my laptop (someting ive done several times before( oh yea the computer was on)) and the computer locked up. no big deal, right. I restart my computer except beeeeeep beep! and i see nothing. CRAP! i try unplugging all sorts of things in various configurations. nothing. So i borrow a PCI graphics card from a friend and it works fine! I am going to try a AGP card later this afternoon- I hope its not the AGP slot. Has this happened to anyone before? all i can say is that it is a geforce2 mx 400, thanks goodness! The ethernet card was 3 slots below the graphics card, who knows? just thought it was a good story.

yikes, scary. good luck with the mobo. 😉 i've never heard of removing an ethernet cable hurting anything.

I once had a sound card that died. Actually, it was just the scsi controller on the sound card that died. Yes that's right, I had a sound card with a scsi controller on it. This was way back when before ATAPI cd-roms.
