Craziest computer problem i've ever had!

So yesterday i came home from work, and my computer was completely hosed. It was sitting at the desktop, and when i tried to open My Computer, everything disapeared from the screen (even the taskbar) except for my backround image, than 5 seconds later it all came back up to my desktop. I tried to open a couple programs from the desktop and nothing would open, some of them would appear in the notification area on the bottom right but the actual program wouldn't load, and if I hightlight my mouse over the little icon, it would disappear. So basically everything crashes on me, without errors, even windows based folders.

I resinstalled windows using my xp sp2 disk, and it seemed to fix it, but the computer was running at about 60% speed in all applications, (might be because of bio resetting from hardware crash). Than an hour later it went right back to doing what it was doing earlier.

I have no idea what brought this on, my computer has worked fine for months, it all happened very sudden!

Any advice would be appreciated!
