Crashing w/ a sound constantly

For some reason I keep crashing either in games or when I have an mp3 playing and doing work on the desktop. When it freezes, a loud "EEEEEEEEEEE" comes through the speakers and I am forced to hit the restart button on the computer. This is getting really frustrating and I can't figure out what it is. I have all the latest drivers on my cards. Here are the specs to my computer:

- Windows 2000 Pro
- Abit KT7 w/ AMD T-bird 1.1 Ghz
- 256MB RAM PC133
- Sound Blaster Live Value OEM
- Asus 770 GF2 64MB
- D-Link Enet card

Could be worth trying some memory from another working rig?
May be your memory maybe? Was what caused the same for me.
