Crashing/Reboot while playing Video Files??

I just recent put together a new system and for some weird reason EVERYTIME I play a video file
either right away for a few minutes into it my computer will REBOOT by itself out of the blue or just freeze forcing me to reboot (wtf?). Now I've noticed that it ALWAYS happens usually with AVI's but just now I had the same problem (over and over again) with an MPEG movie. I tried upgrading to from IE 5.0 to 5.5 (something I was not very enthusiastic about doing) but the problem still remains. Any advice or suggestions would be very very very much appreciated.
thanks.

my specs:

Win98SE
Athlon Thunderbird 1Ghz
MSI K7T Turbo (my experiences with this board so far have been a major pain in the ass)
256MB RAM
Hercules Prophet II 64MB (GeForce 2 GTS)
SBLive X Gamer

I just made a new post describing the same problem, then I found yours...

The only thing we seem to have in common is an MSI mobo. Mine is the MSI K7T Pro2a (KT133).
