i just built a computer 3000+ winnie + AVN SLI combo. Im not using SLI at the moment. During a game I play, it seems to happen randomly but quite often, i just get booted to desktop, no error or anything, just closes. Sometimes the computer just restarts itself also. Seems like you hear the power going on and off. Now at peak my temps dont reach 40c nor am i overclocking atm. I dont know waht would be causing this. Its a brand new install, so my drivers are all up to date and there cant be conflicts as i only have my AC97 audio drivers and my detonator drivers and directx.

Could it be ram timings? I didnt screw w/ them yet, but could the bios have set them wrong?

If you are not overclocking... please tell me more.

Could be timings did you let them automatically get populated? Try leaving them on auto or indeed try increasing them.

What are the parts in your system, how many drives, what video card, what speed RAM? ...etc etc.

Have you tried disabling sound in the game?

Does it happen about the same time in the game everytime or is it intermittent like an hour one time and 5 minutes the next? If not then it may be heat related, if so then it may be power or RAM related.

You made sure that all game patches (if any) are installed? I remember Doom 3 used to boot me off to the desktop till I updated everything. Good luck.

The game is actually Everquest II. It happens very randomly. Sometimes every 5-10 min. Next time its every hour. I think when i lover my graphics all the way to minimum settings i play w/out crashes, and it crashes more at higher settings, tho i havnt been able to test this much.

Nice rig very similar to mine. I think your sig is wrong though... I don't know of a 8VN SLI Deluxe... A8N SLI Deluxe.

From what you said: My guess is power or heat.

What kind of power supply?

What kind of 380W ps?

For what you are running it 'may' be light. I say may because if it's a good 380W it should do the job.

3000+
2 hard drives
6600GT
Any optical drives?

I have the same Sonata with the 380w true power. The PSU is not ATX v2.0 certified which I believe you MB requires.

I don't think mine is either. I am using a 20 pin connector on my 24 pin socket on the mb and using the old 12v connector by the proc that is required when using this config. I am using a 430 Truepower and so far everything is good.

From what you said though it sounds like 380W should suffice.

maybe the mobo is shorting out. you could try taking it out of the case and running it on the workbench. other than that, most people would be tempted to blame your PSU or video card. the only way to verify is to stress each component individually, get memtest86 and test the ram, get a 3D bench stresser for the video and run prime95 to test the CPU. let us know if/what fails.
