I get my new A8V Deluxe from NewEgg yesterday and I plop it into my new Stacker case with my 3200+ and everything's just great. I install XP and get everything up and running so I decide to fix the BIOS settings that are set to auto. I change the memory settings to 2-2-2-5 like I always run with the Ballistix and I save the setting and reboot. I then turn off the onboard SATA because I use the Promise chip instead. I save it and reboot. On this reboot, I get a checksum error and the Crashfree Bios program starts. It does its looking for floppy, looking for CD routine until I dig out the CD and plop it in. It does its thing. First it erases the BIOS and then without programming the new one, it stops and says you may turn off your computer now and turn it back on. Lovely You know what happened when I turned it back on? That's right...nothing.. Now I have to eat 15.00 freight to return it to New Egg so I can get a replacement.

Before going through all that, try resetting the CMOS the old fashioned way, with a jumper... or in the case of ASUS boards, a flat bladed screwdriver or paper clip :p

I did all of that several times. I popped out the battery and reset the jumper four or five times. I actually left the battery out for an hour and still no luck. I've already shipped it back to NewEgg.

The kicker is I don't really NEED the motherboard because I have the Soltek SLK8TPro and the only reason I even ordered the Asus is the Soltek was giving me a keyboard error at post no matter what I tried, USB or PS2 keyboard. It was past the time I could RMA it so I just ordered the Asus. After I ordered the new one, I noticed the keyboard power jumper was missing from the pins. It must have fallen off when I moved the system. I replaced the jumper and it fired right up. I was just going to refuse the package, but there were other things in it I wanted. Asus is my favorite so I figured I'd give it a try. To be honest, the reviews are right. The Soltek most definitely outperforms the Asus hands down. I'll decide in a couple of weeks when I get the Asus back as to what I want to do. At least with a Stacker, it's quick to swap out the motherboard.
