crashes with duron600 on A7V

Since installing the 600 on the board i seem to have a lot off crashing in 3dmark99 and 2000 also unrealtournament. It seems to me that it might be Direct3d related maybe.I have a V5 5500pci with latest drivers and directx 7.0a.Any ideas.Ihave the FOP32 on it and the cpu has been unlocked using a conductive pen.Ready to O/C but not till stable at 600 first.

Was it stable before you did the conductive pen adjustments? If it only crashes in 3D apps, if you have a different video card to test, that might be something to try. Maybe a VIA AGP 4 in 1 driver [re]installation, too.

Check dxdiag to see if everything is ok. Reinstall directx if not.

Check how your IRQ's are shared. I had to push my IRQ's around to get a pattern I was happy with. I have nothing in slot 1, NIC in slot 2, SB live in slot 3, and a modem in slot 4. That arrangement works best for me. I assigned slot 2, 3, and 4 to a particular IRQ to force the sharing my way and even it out better.

Try disabling byte merge and set performance to "normal" in the bios. Experiment with different bios settings overall.

Lastly, reinstall 3d mark. I had it repeatedly crap out on me once and nothing helped resolve it. After a fresh install it worked fine.

There's definetely a problem with the via agp driver either with windows or with Via, microsoft finally acknowledged the problem with win2k and hopefully they are working on a win98 fix. I posted this here. Try reducing your bus to 95 and use openGL. I'm running 95x9.5=902 on my duron 650 with the bios setting of normal and I rarely crash now. I never or have ever crashed in windows, at 95X10=950 or 100X9.5=950 is rock stable in windows, it has never crashed at that speed, it's only in multiplayer online games. I'm really suspecting the agp driver now and more since microsoft admitted a problem for win2k.
