Error: System Freezes or Restarts
Error Occurance: instant - 15 minutes.

Introductory notes: Computer was bought 2 years ago, from Cyberpower USA. My system works fine when using 3x2gb - (6 gb) of ram, however when using more than 6gb's the errors listed above occur. I wish to utilize all 6 slots of my motherboard, which is built to handle 6x2gb sticks.

I have done a variety of checks to try to resolve the issue.

System Specs:

Motherboard: x85 Platinum Intel
CPU: i7 920 - 2.67 ghz
Power Supply: 750w Corsair
Ram: 6 x 2gb Corsair DDR3 - 1333 - cl/trcd/trd/tras: 9-9-9-24
Graphics Card: GTS 250 BFG Tech, Geforce
OS: Windows 7 64 bit Premium Home

- Checked for overheating:
CPU Temp 47/116 c - normal
IOH Temp 87/186 c - normal
System Temp - 42/ 107 normal

- Bios & Drivers updated as of Dec 2nd, 2010
- CPU and core voltage settings, show default settings & normal.
- Motherboard support 1600 for ram setting ( no overclock enabled only set to 1333 ).
- Ram swapped stick by stick to check for bad ram.

Current Status:
If I want to use over 6gb to handle the multi tasking of high end programs I generally work with for my job I am up **** creek atm, and in need of help. I am a graphics, prototype developer, def not systems or IT sort of guy so please go easy on me for my lack of... techy jarva and knowledge.

i would defer to crap memory.

but 4gb sticks are cheap these days (same price/b as 8gb matter of fact) so you could just go that route too.

I suggest folks consider workstations when serious work has to be done. ecc is all that.

You'llhave to drop memory speed and or timings. My 1600 mhz memory won't do 1600 mhz on oc 4ghz i7920. It barely does 1200mhz stable. It's one of those things you aren't told when buying memory. Tri-channel Memory will only do what it says at stock ghz with 3 slots filled all else more difficualt and likely to create instability. Its alll to do with makeing memory controller do more than its designed to.
