A friend of mine is having problems in 3D games. His computer will crash and sometimes restart, depending on the tiitle. It happens pretty regularly in games, but never in windows.
The problem started appearing almost a year ago, when he upgraded from a TNT2M64 to a GeForceGTS 64MB and increased his RAM from 128 to 256MB. Because it only happens in games, and those haven't been a top priority during that time, the problem went unaddessed.
My guess is that the problem is the lack of a powerful-enough power supply. The computer is an HP pavilion, with an Athlon 850 (old school, with off-die cache). The power supply is a measly 185 watts. Can I get any confirmation as to whether or not this is the most likely problem?
He is running Wndows 2000 with all the latest updates together with the most recent NVidia reference drivers.
