Hi all

The computer had been running for a few days, and I've never had any heat issues, never even been able to stress the cpu (or chipset for that matter) over 40 degrees celsius. I got home and turned on some music, and then got into the shower. Ten minutes later the music stops. When I get out of the shower, the computer is turned off, and now won't start.

The green light on the mobo is ok, and all the fans start. The blue lights in the front of the chassi is also shining brightly. Not sure, but I think I've heard some clicks, indicating that the hdds are working (kinda hard to hear when they're not busy). I've tried pulling out all the drives too, doesn't work. I've tried 2 different monitors, both working with my laptop, but indicating they're not getting any signal from the stationary. I'm not getting any lights on the keyboard either.

The last thing I tried was resetting CMOS, but that didn't work either :S

You guys have any suggestions to what might be wrong or any ideas of things I can try?

Could be the PSU or an AGP/PCI card. I've had issues with bad power supplies where the computer would turn on and fans etc. would run but system wouldn't POST, just a black screen. I've also had a problem with an AGP card that would cause the computer to not even power on when it was in the slot, but taking it out and replacing it with a new card would work fine. Start by removing all of your PCI cards, then try booting with a second video card if you have one on hand, and test with a 2nd PSU if you have one available. Those would most likely be the culprits based on your symptoms.

Yeah, I'll try to borrow some stuff from my buddy. Any chance it's the CPU? Coz I'm not even getting a black screen, there's not a signal at all. It seems strange for the grafic card to just stop working, especially when it wasn't busy at all. Might be the PSU though, and even if it's still working, I'd like to get a new one.

Yeah by "black screen" I meant nadda, just bad wording on my part. It sounds very similar to the problem I had with the PSU. When my graphics card died I couldn't even turn the computer on, press the power button and nothing would happen. If I had to take a guess, I'd say it was the PSU, but that's just based on what I've run into in the past. I suppose it's possible that it could be the CPU, but I've never had problems with any of mine, so maybe somebody else who has can chime in on that one.
