according to the pictorial brochure, that in case of emergency landings

it instructs you to put yr head between your legs

what purpose does that serve, other than let you kiss yr azz goodbye

or does that ensure a quick death by necksnapping

Instead of letting your head bang around, it cushions your head inbetween your legs.

Or the typical ATOTer response: one final (or first) dicksucking before leaving this world.

that seems like a very harsh position for your neck

What sort of crash landing are we talking about? IIRC, the airplane crash landing position was head rested on folded arms leaning against the seatback in front of you

Actually since that is the position you would eventually end up in during s a forward stroke of a crash it would limit the possibility of "whiplash" like injurues if you've already assumed the position. Same thing goes with an auto wreck, one's natural tendency would be to stiffen themselves against the seat in the moment before a crash but it is much safer to lean forward and place your arms in front of your head. I recently learned this in a Crash Survival Analysis class I just finished.

You are not supposed to go all the way inbetween. Just bend as much as possible then wrap your hands around the back of your head. Your entire body should become a shield for your head. Better you lose a hand than your head.

Yeah, that seems logical.

I was going to link to pedophile bondage in the skies but, alas, it has finally departed the web.

Edit: yay for the wayback!
