See bug check codes under:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us...ed-3296-4e84-8885-c3162fd0ddbf.xml.asp

Bug Check 0x50: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA says:

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

I say uninstall antivirus, run memtest86 overnight and make sure you haven't overclocked anything. You might want to find a test that triggers the BSOD on demand first, so that you can verify that you've actually solved anything. (will e.g. running Prime95 trigger the BSOD?)

This is very frequently RAM, run memtest as recommended above. Run it for several hours/overnight, any errors=fail.

A couple of things:

1. The memory is 512 megs of PC3200 and the video is taking 64 megs of it so when memtest86 runs it only shows 448 megs...what about the 64 megs that the video is using ?

2. I'm using memtest86 plus v1.55 not memtest86 v3.2..........is there a difference ?

update:

upgraded the video driver from march 2005 to June 2005

ran memtest86 plus 5 passes and no errors on 448 megs of the 512MB

Well, what kind of graphics card is this anyway? Sounds like you're using a laptop or something... (oh, that GeForce 6200 thing does something similar, doesn't it?)

You're not running as administrator then? Odd that you'd execute an app that tries to load a driver. (were you trying to launch regmon or similar utils from sysinternals.com?) What application were you running at the time? You don't happen to have any spyware installed, do you? (does any of the nasty spyware apps attempt to load drivers btw? I imagine they could embed themselves pretty tight if they did)

Could you test using a "proper" stand-alone video card? (surely you could borrow from someone)

Was surfing the web with Firefox and smc.exe popup with the error. smc.exe is Sygate firewall. It happens with other apps as well.

I am running as a Administrator.

Next thing to try is using a stand alone video card and testing the whole 512 megs of ram.
