Hello all, I would like to hear people's opinion on whether I should call up Dell about my E173P LCD panel, which came with my Dell 8400 that I bought 3 months ago. It's not my primary monitor, as I dual it with a 2005FPW. And of course it's not as good as a 2005, but lately it's been having new problems:
1: the left half of the screen is redder than the right half
2: the screen would go fuzzy all of a sudden after it's been on for a while, and I have to go into video properties and change the refresh from 60Hz to 75Hz (or vice versa), afterwhich it goes back to normal
3: there was a strip of backlight leakage along the upper and lower edge of the screen, but now it's gotten worse
4: there's a few dead pixels (maybe 4 or 5), but all are light blue/grey types that you don't really notice that much
I wasn't going to bother with it, since it's not my primary monitor, but there's so many things wrong with it now, and it's becoming annoying. It's still under warranty, but it's past the first 21 days obviously. I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting exchanges for systems or components during this time frame, and whether Dell will still give you free shipping on the exchange, or whether they will exchange this monitor at all.
My previous experience with Dell customer service is that it's slow and inefficient, but if you are persistent enough they'll eventually give you what you want. Think it's worth it for me to try to get a new E173P versus the time spent and the risk of getting another crappy E173P (I'm not sure how good the quality is on these cheapo Dell LCDs)?
Would appreciate any comments and suggestions, thanks in advance!
