Presario SR5260AN

4 dims installed

windows doesn't want to use it, I get 2GB if I pull 1 of the 1GB sticks

are there hidden bios options on this board

msconfig maximum memory option only sees 2048 and even if set still behaves like in the screen shot

IDK anything about your mobo, but what do you get if you switch places between the dimms in slots #2 and #3?

IIRC, the farther back you go, the more picks motherboards got with RAM.

I guess, just two be sure, do you have the two 1 GB sticks in the same color slots, and the two 512 MB in the other color slots?

On the POST screen, how much RAM does it say you have?

BIOS sees all ram installed so does cpu-z

it can see and use 2GB if I try 2x512 and either one of the 1GB sticks

it can see and use both 1GB sticks in single channel (they have the same timings but one is a single sided dimm and the other is double)

it wont work with the 512 sticks in slots 1 and 2 with the 1GB sticks by themselves or together

crappy mobos set timings based on the lead module

the only combination I haven't tried is a 1GB and 512 on the same channel slots x2

I will try that now in all of its permutations
ie 1GB 512MB 1GB 512MB

its dim slot 1 its a fussy hua

it wont POST with either of the 1GB by them selves in there or in combination

it will only POST and Boot with the screen shot or both 512MB sticks

it will not POST with 1x512MB in slot 1 either

it will POST with slot 1,2 with 512 sticks and 3,4 with the 1GB sticks but it wont make it to windows cause it sets the timings too tight for the 1GB sticks

I can get 2.5GB usable if I populate dim 2,3,4 with a either 1GB stick in slot 2
