just got a new mobo and an evga 7800gt and was playing cod2. i decided "well this game looks good but lets OC and make it look GREAT" hmmm bad idea. now even at settings lower than stock i get a crazy amount of artifacts in cod2 while i get zero in CSS. any ideas?

UPDATE
i just flashed the bios on this card and im still getting artifacts in the game. there not nearly as bad but they are still there. (when i say "not nearly as bad" i mean there only on 1/4 of the screen instead of 1/2 of it)

EDIT: I also dropped 500 3dMarks from 78-- before to 7361 now

im getting artifacts in 3dmark05 also but not in CSS

SOunds like the geometry delta monster has struck again.

Check out the eVGA Forums.

Download the new BIOS that removes the geometry delta and flash.

Let me know how it goes.

I have an eVGA 7800GT, but it's unopened. I'm curious to see how this new BIOS works out.

suggestions:

1. Try lots of different games. Do a majority of them have artifacting issues?
2. Check temperatures while playing. Perhaps there is something wrong with your cooling setup.
3. Change drivers. Try the 78.03's and the 81.95's.
4. What PSU do you have? Perhaps it's beginning to fail. If you have another, try it.
5. Try the card in a second computer and see if artifacting persists in COD2, 3dmark05, etc. This one is critical.

After that, it's time to look at RMA'ing or getting another video card, and perhaps not overclocking it ;)
