What kind of fishing will you be doing? in a boat or off the dock?

for crappie right now, it would be best to use a bright colored jig, Red,Yellow should be doing fine. You may also try the smallest sized minnows you can find and just use a float and about 2-3 line lead. Make sure you put some sort of bait on the jig, ie; a mister twister or a small grub. I have caught crappie also on grasshopers, lmk if you need anything else.

First ask yourself this: WHY am I catching crappies?

Second ... I dunno what to tell ya. I only fish for trout, salmon, or go crabbing.

I would use a jig and then use minnows or I've always had good luck in Iowa and Minnesota using "crappy candie" (don't know where to buy that stuff anymore) or maggots (meal worms).

Minnows.

If you can, after Christmas collect two or three trees and weight them down with concrete blocks. Sink them in deep water a few feet from shore. Wait until June and fish there with minnows.
