I have a mobo..duron800+mobo, ram, a hd, a psu, and swappable cd rom and fdd... and i really dont wanna buy a case for these "parts".. not right now anyways... so whats y safest bet for placement? i have plenty of floorspace but its carpeted... i was thinking lay out some cardboard in the corner.. and set it on top of that.. btw, i have no woodworking skills, and dont wanna put any real money (over 5 bucks) into any spot to put my stuff

forgot one thing.. i cant turn it on :( i dont think.. ugh

You need a momentary switch to short the POWER SWITCH headers on your mobo. You could just use a screwdriver or paperclip to "momentarily" turn on the computer and do it again to turn it off. Be careful that you dont short out the pins incorrectly ;)

Yea i did that all summer... had my computer on the plastic top to a big bucket type thing.

Just layed it all out... put mobo stnadoffs on teh mobo tho to keep it off teh ground

don't let stuff on the back side of the m obo short out or something

to turn it on, look in the manual to the mobo and see what piins you plug the on/off switch to

use a fork or screwdriver adn touch the 2 together and the computer will turn on

BE CAREFUL TOOWHEN ITS DARK OUT AND YOUR TOO LAZY TO TURN THE LIGHTS ON WHEN YOUR LOOKING FOR THE PINS... or else a 2 inch spark may jump off yer mobo when you miss the right pins

/me speaking from experience

Yeah, a flathead screwdriver works well. Or go by something from Radioshack and rig it in.

Waiting for the next pay check eh? :p. I remember I had to resort to this for a few days. Quite neat actually. Just place it on anything that doesn't connect static or electricity.
