Crap! what just happened to my moniter!!

I have a viewsonic pf775 crt 17inch monitor. Today i wake up and press the button for the monitor and it makes a wierd whizzing sound but nothing happens. THe screen stays black. Is it dead? What should I do?

when my 17" died, it started turning on and off really fast over and over until it just died completely.
