Crap, this sucks ...

I got braces a few months ago as it turns out I wasn't quite done since the braces I had all the way back in elementary and middle school didn't do anything ...

Anyways, they put on new brackets on Thursday and today, one of the brackets popped off (lower set, on the right, in the back)

So now, I have a loose bracket rolling on the wire, all around the back of my mouth

I called the orthodontist and obviously, they're closed tomorrow, but for some odd reason, they're also closed on Tuesday!

So I'm going to have this thing rolling around for at least 3 days 🙁

Is it a metal brace or those clear "plastic" ones Amol? I ask, because a loose metal one could F up the enamel on your tooth.

Take it off if it is bothering you. Have someone clip the rubber band if it's that type. My dad's an orthodontist and this is what he tells everyone if he can't see them right away though normally he'll go out of his way to see someone.

It's definitely not clear, so it must be metal

There's no rubber band. It's a special type of bracket which doesn't require bands.

I had braces for about 2.5 years and it sucked, and now i'm free. how long do u have to wear these for?

Got these in January, and they said somewhere between 10-18 months, depending on how the teeth react. On Thursday, they said everything was going very well and said if it keeps up like this, it'd be off before the end of the year.

can you feel your teeth shifting back with the broken bracket? that might set you back some

No, the bracket just popped off... I was drinking some water and it just ... poof ... came off

I remember during the appointment a few days ago, they had some trouble putting on the bracket on this tooth ... this was the 3rd try, so I guess it wasn't on completely to begin with

I've had my braces for 8 months, but last week i was eating and i snapped the wire on one side. So i decided to eat on the other side of my mouth, and then i snapped that side too. Oh well, too lazy to go in till next month.

Can't wait to get my grill off, lol

Wow, you should really get an emergency appointment

I'm trying to get one for Wednesday, since I just got this new set on a few days ago and I go every 10 weeks.

there are emergency dental clinics open if it bothers you that much. i don't think you should do that though.

my sister graduated from college last sunday. she had been complaining all weekend that her jaw was hurting. after the graduation, the pain became acute enough that she started crying like mad. my parents, who were in town for graduation, started calling the emergency clinics and eventually got her seen by a dentist who had to perform an emergency root canal. ouch.

at least an annoyance is somewhat more bearable.
