yeah, I hope so too :) Thanks!

some speakers have fuses.

but it sounds like you blew the tweeter. check if any sound comes from the tweeter. if not then replace the speaker or blown driver.

-edit- well if there is a fuse then check it!!!

i don't see how it's funny...you've never heard of breakers on speakers before?
Yeah, but I was under the impression that his symptoms would be different if the fuse was blown.

I also thought that the fuse was for something other than just accidently turning the volume up too high, but maybe my assumption was wrong..

Sounds like you blew the tweeter in one of them. BTW speakers don't have fuses.
Better speakers have fuses and entirely reasonable to put one on for situations just like this. The sub on my altec lansing PC speakers has a fuse. Also, some speaker's I've built have fuses.

You should be able to fix your speakers with a new tweeter. The sound will be mismatched buy with cheaper speakers, you may not notice too much anyway. On second thought, unless you know what you're doing, you should just get new speakers.

Altec Lansing is "better speakers"? LOL, no.

the rest of your post? eh buy with cheaper speakers?

Cerwin Wega is ok for home use, it's a step below the REALLY expensive speakers that none of you have and most of your somewhat more expensive speakers are usually not as good.

He blew the tweeter, i would replace both tweeters with same spec tweeters (that is, not only the spec, the same reference too. (as in, they are mounted in similar speakers)

anyone up for invading germany again?

To the OP: just take the speakers to a repair place and see what they will charge to fix them. Chances are it wont be much. Otherwise you will have to just pick up some new speakers.

If you're going to get new speakers to replace them, I'd like to suggest JBL studio series if you can still find them. I just got a pair and they sound awesome. I got the S310IIs, 10"woofer, 4" mid, 1" tweeter. Like everyone said though your tweeter likely blew or a wire possibly fell off from the bass shaking it. Although I can't see that happening if it were constructed right in the first place!

If you replace the tweeters I'd suggest replacing both speaker's tweeters (yes even the good one) if you can't find exact matches to the old tweets.
