in the middle of some crappy football game I wasn't watching. Am now thankful for smartphones and portable hotspots.

I can't remember what the hell I did when I was younger due to a power outtage. Tiddlywings? Jenga? wtf did everyone do?

Go in the yard and fire three shots into the ground. Repeat after ten minutes. Give the neighbors something to occupy their minds.

Can't shoot holes in the backyard - live in an apartment. The streets have enough potholes in them so a couple shots there wouldn't even be noticed. Too bad no gun.

Went outside with my roommate who smoked a cig, I just vaped, talked to some neighbours. Turns out all of downtown Jersey City is out of power. Sirens going off non-stop.

Gonna just browse the web for a couple hours on my laptop. Just hoping the power goes back on within a few hours so we can save the stuff in the fridge.

If the laptop dies and I'm awake, time to read a book. Otherwise just go outside and riot, storm some stores and loot some goods. The old-fashioned way.

I light some candles and stare at the cat. Been meaning to pick up my didg again. I never did get circular breathing down. No electricity would be a good excuse to practice.

My whole condo complex lost power this summer. Street lights and everything were gone. It was the spookiest thing at night.

Any time the power goes out I think about how people lived before electricity. Of course, I'm less prepared than they were, so nothing on hand to put out a useful amount of light. Hmmm, it's dark, must be time to go to sleep.

LOL what are the odds. Power went out here too. 5k customers affected. Stuff is lit up like a Christmas tree here at work. Or more like a dark Halloween night.

I think I may have figured out the cause:

Maybe this is actually a thing, clowns are going around breaking the power grid on Halloween night.

Oddly I'm fine here at work, and my house is also not affected. Even if work did get hit we have 2 big diesel generators. Good to go!

All the security cameras are all blank too.

I almost feel this is part of a plan, a huge heist to steal office furniture and stationary.

Phones are dead too, main PBX is at the main office. Stupid they did it that way, it should be here, we have 48v battery backup + 2 gensets. Suppose I should call the help desk and let them know what's going on so they don't panic. :p

How about the origin of an outage affecting over sixty million customers in the USA and Canada? :Q

Those electrical faults are always fascinating to watch. I wonder why sub stations don't have AFCI/GFCI type breakers to detect these kinds of faults though.

Oh and the cause of the outage in my area was a transport going through several poles. The city has detours all over the freaking place so I imagine the transport did not see the pole while making a turn in a tight area. Apparently there was quite the lightening show and the high voltage lines were sitting on top of the cab. He had to stay inside for a good hour while avoiding touching anything.

Then the night after we had another major outage at another part of town! lol. No idea the cause of that one.
