I'm at home sick today and I get an email from my boss asking me about a project I QA'd last week. Apparently, the Business Consultant now has concerns about my testplan and testcases. The buttmunch has had since last Thursday afternoon to raise these concerns. But no, he waits until today to raise these concerns with my manager instead of me. I was in a freaking pre-code meeting with him for another project on Monday and he did not give the slightest inkling that there was something amiss.

So, here I am at home trying to explain my testplan to my manager for a project that is listed as low complexity, only has a few testfiles that I can use to test it to begin with, and doesn't even have 60 characters worth of output.

That's it. This is the straw that breaks the camel's back. I'm putting my resume back out on the market I'm already having to put up with BS because there is a perception that I'm not working enough. Screw that. I QA'd almost 70 projects (more than anyone else on my team) in the last two months and only two were late (better than anyone else on my team) and that was because of issues I had raised during testing. I've stayed late at the office several times and have always made myself available at home for any work that needs to be done.

Man this just pisses me off.

I feel your pain. Seems like IT guys never get the respect they deserve these days. Crappy politics.

I hear ya... QA jobs just have to bend over and take it like a little sweet boy in jail. POUND for POUND style. This is the reason I'm thinking about going to school and becoming a Doctor. Techies just get the "Hard" end of it so to speak.

Equifax.

ooooh, just screw up your boss's and the consultants FICO scores.

Nah, that would get me canned. They track who accesses the credit file servers. Any access to anything but the test files would immediately get me thrown out on my butt and probably have charges files against me.

Plus, I'm too nice of a guy for that.

Why don't you cut and paste this rant in the next e-mail to your boss?

(Without the part about looking for another job, of course...)

Oh, she's already gotten the rant about the consultant waiting almost a whole week to raise a concern of my QA efforts and contacting her first instead of me. Along with my explanation of exactly what I performed during my QA and that it was really a simple project with only a few needed testcases.

I didn't exactly care for my job to begin with but I'm starting to cross over the line to 'hate'.

"So you don't like your job? Why didn't you say so? Theres a club for that. Its called everybody and we meet at the bar after work."

- Drew Carrey

;)

(just a little humour. In truth I feel for you. I did QA for 5 months once and outright quit - no other job lined up or anything. it sucked that much.)

Monster.com. They called me in for an interview and I got the job. I was only using it to get my foot in the door after I was laid off from my last job where I worked as a business consultant. I had planned on applying for a consultant position at Equifax as soon as one opened after my first year ended. Now I don't know. I don't care for the consultants in my group now because they are so quick to go complain to managers over the most trivial crap.
