Here are the specs:
Duron 700 @ 770 (7x110) - can't seem to multiplier unlock stable
MSI KT7 Pro2a (2.4 bios)
512 MB CAS2 PC133 Crucial/Micron Ram
WinME & Win2000 Pro DualBoot (via 4.29 beta on both OS)

Sandra gives me very bad scores in winme. With Win2K i get like around 430/480. In winme i get 380/430. I remember something about the win9x kernel bad a handling anything above 256 mb ram. Is that true? Hmmm... maybe i'll remove 1 stick and test! Any comments appreciated, thx. Damn i'm too lazy to open my case and redo the multiplier... (sigh) i know this chip does 935 (8.5x105) easily. Ah well... i think i'll just invest some moola in and unlocked 1.2 thunderbird... drool!

Hi,
To preface, we all know winME is nowhere near the memeory manager WIn2K is, especially with large amounts of RAM. I'm not sure about the win98 kernel, but I know you see very little improvement in performance once you hit 256mb. I do agree your scores are a LITTLE low, but they are related to your processor, free me, FSB and CAS setting. You will probably get better memory scores with 905mhz even though your FSB will go down 5mhz. Is your RAM set to CAS2 in your BIOS? I also suggest you follow your own advice and remove one strip and test them individually. Even Micron/Mushkin make a bad chip once in a while. Did I say that?!? Anyway, if all these things are not an issue, get back to us and I'll try to help you tweak it for that smooth ride we all love.
As Always,
D

Ram is set at CAS2 133 (actually shows 146 Mhz in CPUID and Sandra), like i said, i can't seem to get the multiplier stable with the pencil trick. My mem scores in Winme are barely beating a Duron 600 w/pc100! When i get home i'll try to test things out. I don't think the ram is bad... I ran the Burn-in with sisoft over 2 days perfectly, at Cas 2 133 (146). Peace out.
