Crap! Power went out during installation of Win2K, now computer wont boot!

Any advice? 🙁

Was installing Win2K pro off of my HD, everything was going fine and it was 99% done when the power went out. Now, when it starts up, right after verifying the memory and so forth, its says

"starting windows...
xxx---------------------------------------------------"

where xxx represents the number of bars completed of the bars going across the screen. Its shows 4-5 being completed, but after that, it simply hangs and doesnt go any farther.

What do I do? Boot disk on a floppy? But of what OS? Win2K or my previous OS, 98FE? The installation was almost done-it had booted into W2k (?) and was saying "please wait", i think it was finalizing the setup.

🙁

help please!!!! 🙂

Well, i guess that a solution as a final resort...but I didnt backup the drive, nor am I presently able to put win2K on a CD (though if it comes down to this, I guess I could, it would just take work to transfer my CDR drive and install burning software on my second rig...)

You mean you didn't install Win2k on a separate little partition? In this case that would be the only thing you would have to format.
You could always install Win98FE and then reinstall win2k later.

D you have access to the startup disks? W2k that is. You might try the repair option.

Can you get into safe mode?
