crap performance on an SLI pc

Im so dissapointed that even with my sli setup i see framerate go down to 29 in battlefield 2. How lame is that? Yeah i only play at 1280x1024 because i my LCD only supports taht much. It seems impossible to get bf2 to not run like crap. I overclocked my cpu, changed mobos, tried bunch of diff vid cards with no success.

It is ridiculous that i see framerate drop so low like that.

Heck, I get higher fps on my AGP 7800gs on that res with everything maxed out :Q

There's certainly something wrong here. Is SLI properly activated? Which drivers are you using? Did you try underclocking your CPU back to stock speeds? Does this only happen with BF2?

We've got to know some more specifics before we can help. Don't overclock anything at first, you've got good enough hardware for playing BF2 at better frames with those stock specs on your rigs components. What settings do you have turned on in the game? Do you have SLI AA or Split Frame rendering or what? Is SLI enabled through windows and your mobo's bios (if it needs to be)? Do you have any video configuration tweaks in the games ini files?

Im using 84.43 drivers for my graphics. Rendering mode is set to SLI-multi gpu rendering. I dont have coolbits installed or any ini tweaks

I do get 13k in 3dmark05 so im not sure what is wrong. I mean i don't get 29 fps all the time. It varies alot. I get high fps when there is not much going on and avg 50ish during firefights. But i see fps drop to 29 sometime and that is just unacceptable for an SLI rig

I'd undo all of your overclockings first. Like I said, your hardware should give good (or at least better than your getting now) performance in BF2 at stock settings. Then see what you get.

Is it only with BF2? If not then you may need to defrag your system. Is the game patched to the most recent version?

Sound's like maby a driver problem. So when all else fails, go XG FTW!!!

Those are the best drivers out their right now, modded or not.

Also, when you install them do this:
-Uninstall current drivers from device manager (both cards)
-Reboot into safe mode
-Run Driver Cleaner Pro
-Reboot
-Install new XG 84.22.v2
-Reboot
-Enable SLI and make sure SLI rendering mode is set to "Auto Select" (or something like that)

yeah latest patch 1.22. I think CS:S framerate almost doubled though. It is just bf2 that is acting #$@

are you using the single player mod with 64-128 bots. i did and its a major FPS lowerer cuyz the cpu has to do a lot opf physics and ai calcs.
if not thenb did you reformat hdd and reinstall windows.

Force off vertical sync and triple buffering in the settings. Disabling Vsync will stop the video card from delaying the buffer swap. That means each frame will be able to get itself to the monitor as fast as possible. Disabling triple buffering should free up some video memory. See if you get higher FPS, then we can debug from there. SLI may have issues with VSync, I can't remember for sure. You have a single-core Opteron 148 so there shouldn't be X2 issues in the mix at least.

Im at college and i ask for work over the summer and she says no for no good reason. I know im a good employee but she decides not to hire me back.
