And we are scheduled to fly to a Caribbean island Saturday morning. He's past the fever feeling bad part, but now the bumps have showed up. We can still fly correct? He doesn't have a ton, so I bet no one even notices. And if someone asks I'll just say they are mosquito bites lol. He got vaccinated like 1.5 years ago as well, weird he still got it. Maybe that's why there are bumps, but not a ton of them?

The bolded by me above is over the line. You may be joking, but given your posting history, it's hard to put anything past you.

The comment of the poster below pretty much sums up the way you participate on our forums, "lie and spread childhood diseases just so you can have your vacation...and, of course, ask on an internet forum rather than talking to an actual doctor."

Sure...lie and spread childhood diseases just so you can have your vacation...and, of course, ask on an internet forum rather than talking to an actual doctor.

Immunization should help a ton with the severity. Should keep him from developing severe symptoms. He is probably still contagious though 🙁

Is it possible to push the trip back a week? That would be the route I'd go.

You think having a son with chicken pox on vacation is going to be fun for anyone?

No way to push it back unfortunately, we are going with friends, and would not work with work anyways. He feels fine now - the fever came and went, so now its just waiting for the bumps to go away. On the flight I'll just make sure he sits in a window seat away from others as much as possible. But unless they tell me we can't board FUK IT, we are going. You only live once and I'm not going to lose my vacation because some other parents didn't keep THEIR shorty out of school and away from the public when that shorty had the chicken pox...

So kind of what you are planning on doing?

Not sure I understand your question UsandThem - are you just asking what we are going to do while there? Obviously, the beach and pool a good bit (I prefer the beach, my girl prefers the pool). Then we have excursions during the day, and almost certainly some gambling at night. Hotel has a day care that watches the kids so parents can be out doing things.

You stated your kid probably got chicken pox because "some other parents didn't keep THEIR shorty out of school and away from the public".

That's exactly what you are planning on doing by taking your kid with you.......on a plane......and then at a hotel.

Not cool at all............

It's chicken pox. It's not the plague.

True...but still highly contagious...and, in case folks forget, once you get chicken pox, you're now subject to develop shingles...a MUCH worse version.
While chicken pox is rarely fatal...it can bring some fairly serious complications...including death.

From the Mayo Clinic:
Chickenpox is normally a mild disease. But it can be serious and can lead to complications including:

  • Bacterial infections of the skin, soft tissues, bones, joints or bloodstream (sepsis)
  • Dehydration
  • Pneumonia
  • Inflammation of the brain (encephalitis)
  • Toxic shock syndrome
  • Reye's syndrome in children and teenagers who take aspirin during chickenpox
  • Death

And the kid will be at a hotel daycare spreading it to everyone there. What a scheister.

Yeah, it's a lot worse for adults who haven't gotten it before, which you're more likely to run into on a plane than elsewhere. It also can cause shingles later in life, which is Very Bad®. It's still fucking stupid to expose strangers to shit you know about.

It's the airline's call. So...have fun if your kid gets denied on arrival over there....on the island......

If there is a preggo woman on board, you're also putting that person or child-to-be at risk...
