cramming more RAM in a dell

I'm doing some microarray analysis and it would be very helpful if I could get 4gb in one of the dell sstems @ school... there are only the optiplex and precision 350 models and they're listing max ram @ 2 GB which is really pitiful. Are there any bios mods that can get me to 4 GB? I've also got a 700m, but I doubt that will handle 4, thanks.

Search dell for your model and read the manual, see if there are any BIOS updates.

you have crappie machines... precision 350 uses the famous RDRAM.. 2gb is max, 512mb modules, 4 slots.. 5x512 = 2048

precision 530 has optional memory risers, but it may only work on the 530s..

which optiplex.. if it uses ddr.. most likely you can go 4..

700m ? notebook ?

ended up buying 4bg of 2700 for an old system I built myself which at least can handle it as opposed to these poc dells. Thanks.
