actually, hot water would probably increase your chances of spreading the fungus if it did actually get on you. i got a kitten once and it had ringworm 🙁
we had to hold her down and put cream on her everyday. needless to say, she is not the friendliest cat.
 
I got ringworm twice in highschool from wrestling. No matter how many times we would clean the mats with bleach, we would all still get ringworm a couple times.
