Cradle Of Filth - is the singer male or female?

I always thought the singer was male, but my brother says female. There's really no way to tell based on their publicity pics. I don't like the band but wanted to see who was right. Anybody know?

male. Danni Filth. He has a very high-pitched screech though. In their latest CD they have a guest female vocalist, the singer from Theatre of Tragedy.

You are right.

* Sarah Jezebel Deva - Female Backing Vocals - (1991-)
* Adrian Erlandsson - Drums - (2000-) (ex-At the Gates, ex-The Haunted, Terror)
* Paul Allender - Guitars - (1991-1996, 2000-) (The Blood Divine)
* Martin Powell - Keyboards - (2000-) (ex-My Dying Bride, ex-Anathema, ex-Cryptal Darkness)
* Dave Pybus - Bass - (2002-) (ex-Anathema, Dreambreed)
* James McKillboy - Guitars - (2004-)

* Dani Filth (Daniel Lloyd Davey) - Vocals - (1991-)
* Sarah Jezebel Deva - Female Backing Vocals - (1991-)

I can see the confusion....

now, if you want to hear a woman who sounds like a man, listen to Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow has a better death scream than most guys.

Dani filth is a man who likes to wear dresses, and screams like a bird. Cradle of Filth covered Iron Maiden's Hallowed be thy name, and they crapped all over that song. 🙁

Want to hear a high pitched voice? Listen to Mercyful Fate. Great 80's metal.

Yeah! I love the King. One of the best live shows I've ever been to.

And CoF has a male singer.

Man, a CoF thread, an Avenged Sevenfold thread, what's next?

I thought it was pretty much straight rap or alt rock with a few in each subgenre.

I would do anything to see King Diamond live! You are so lucky. I heard King Diamond is coming to my town in March or May, I cant remember. I am going to try to go though. 🙂

Yup, he's going on tour soon. I think he's coming here in April, and you better believe I'm going to be there!

crapped Hallowed be Thy Name? He should be beaten merciless with a lead pipe.

yeah I just heard that the other day actually. It wasn't quite as bad as I had feared, but it still wasn't pretty. That's one of those songs that is so damn good nobody should ever try to remake it for fear of ruining it.

You are right. Hallowed be thy name should not be covered at all. Thats just too much of a great song.

I don't know how King Diamond always manages to dig up incredible musicians to play with him, no matter how many times he changes band members.

And just thought I would chime in - I saw your namesake live in the next to last show they ever played before Phil Lynott died. Great show! :thumbsup:

I am a big fan of Thin Lizzy, but never went to any of their concerts before Phil died. Poor guy. He just couldnt stay away from those drugs. 🙁

The music is good and catchy the female vocals are really good to bad it's all ruined by a guy who sings like a cat lite unfire.

Well Andy LaRocque has been with him since at least Abigail 1. And Andy is an exceptional guitarist. The other band members switch often, but who cares about drummers and bassists, right? 😉

Exactly how I feel. I gotta admit, though, Dani is damn talented. Not only can he screech like no other male member of the population, but his growls are incredibly deep and gutteral as well. And I must say, his vocals are growing on me; mostly because of the song Nymphetamine. I still can't take much of it though. I much prefer bands like Emperor, Children of Bodom, Kalmah or Immortal.
