OK, so I want a 7900GT and I just thought of a round-about way to save some money.

Say I buy this card (the 518):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130238

I get the eVGA SLi board for free, right?

Then I have $359 invested in my video card. I sell the motherboard for $90, so I have $449. I use eVGA's step-up program and voila! A 7900GT (assuming it isn't more than $450) for only $359!

Will this work?

eVGA says:

This Step-Up? Program is not valid with any other offers, promotions, etc.

I'm not sure if this applies to my theory?

no i dont think so because it goes by the prices on their site. You would only get 300$ on the step up program.

Its what you paid for that goes towards steput. So you paid $359 and $359 will be applied to the msrp of the the card you want.
And yeah, I doubt you'll get $90 for that board. I've seen people practically giving it away on the fs forum. Id suggest just keeping.
Maybe you could use on another build or give to a friend.

Better idea: buy $200 worth of crack. Smoke said crack. Commit various crimes while high. By the time you are released from incarceration, the 7900GT should be less than $159.

My approach is guaranteed to work.

Disclaimer for the IQ impaired: this is what is known as HUMOR people. Don't even think of taking my advice.

Not sure I understand what you're proposing.

You pay X amount for the 7800GT & mobo - eVGA will then give you X amount towards purchasing the G71; you're not saving anything over just waiting to buy it outright,

$359 for 7800GT & NF41 motherboard

sell motherboard for $90

EVGA credit for $359 now added together with the $90 to equal $449
when 7900GT is released instead of paying $500 for the card - $359 (if he'd have bought nothing) would equal $141 extra dollars
with the bundle, step-up, and selling the motherboard overall extra paid would only be $51.

Too complicated to be worth considering with the hassles of making sure EVGA honours the entire bundle price rather than just the card value, plus having to sell the motherboard as well IMHO.

edit: the NF41 has gone between $60 and $100 on ebay - so again, GL with $90.
