Crackling/Cracking/Hissing/Noise in Audio during hard drive writing

I moved my music off of my primary hard drive onto a RAID 1 array and now experience almost pure noise/cracking/hissing/crackling when ever data is being written to the array. The array is two WD1200JB's on a Highpoint HPT370/372 embedded on my Abit KR7A-RAID. This behavior is exhibited in VLC, iTunes, Quicktime, and WMP 6.4. It doesn't occur when playing audio off my non-RAIDed drives both on and off the RAID controller. This occurs in both MIDI and MP3 audio.
