Cracking the region on ASUSDVD 2000 ?

The title says it all.

OK, the ASUSDVD 2000 appears to be no more, no less than PowerDVD ver. 2.50 ...

Has anyone tried yet to crack the region coding yet, using DVD Genie or something similar? Does that change the functionality of the player in any way?

I'm tempted to try it myself, and I want to know if there are any "pioneers".
