Cracking Excel....

I had to take my fastest machine off today to crack a excel password.. dual 800 512mb rambus (133). It seems like a 7 character password, cuz it's been running 2 hours already, the 5 character it did in 2 min (lucky me!) so I been able to recover 2 of 3 files today.

Anyone have a faster cracker for free ?

Sure, i'll have to email u tomorrow, since i'm at home now, I don't think it cracks word but I have other programs for that 🙂

Call me naive, but why would you need to crack an Excel password? In fact, where exactly does Excel use passwords?

I hope it's legal, and you just forgot the password. Right?

You'd be surprised (and dismayed) to know how often your average office cubicle dweller forgets the password to the "protected" part of the spreadsheet that has vital information in it...

you be amazed... one little spread sheet takes 3 days to crack using brute force method. They ask for estimated days, I told them if it password is greater the 5 character.. good luck 🙂

ken hit tools options protection and you can protect excel files. and they are a bastard if you lose them.

for work my passwords are 11 characters, at home 14.
