WUXGA 1920x1200 :Q i bought it 4yrs ago.

i set it on the floor because i needed table space for a min. i grabbed it by the corner to bring it back up to the table, as i've done many times in the past. but i guess this time was the straw that broke the camel's back.

there's now a line running diagonal from the middle top to middle left :(
but it still works + everything is mostly readable.

probably going to downsize and get a cheap 14" wxga (1280x800) laptop. (i no longer need that great of a resolution.) oh, and dual core

ah :( I did the same 3 weeks ago by stepping on my NC10 netbook, but I replaced the screen which was pretty easy.

new screen costs $125 from ebay.

i'd rather use the $ to buy a new dual core laptop for $349, which includes a bigger hard drive, plus it'll be lighter since i'm downsizing to 14".

( if i still needed the 1920x1200 resolution then i would replace the screen)

I broke my old laptop's screen the same way. :( Picked it up by the LCD and pinched a little too hard.

It's still totally useble though, not even any dead pixels..

broke mine last night. had it on the coffee table and went to shut the lid and it was sliping off the table so I grabbed it. Cracked about 1 1/4" down from the top.

I actually stepped on my netbook a few nights ago. Somehow I got really lucky though, because the screen didn't break.

Why do you have your netbook on the floor, much less in an area where you can step on it?

it would suck losing resolution. even if you think you won't need it you'll probably still miss it :(

My dog broke mine a few months ago. It was on the floor and he came rampaging in and trampled it.

On that note, doesn't anyone have any experience buying screens from these stores online or ebay? There seems to be a ton of pick from, and who knows if any of them are shady. I'd love to hear some good feedback from some of these places before I buy a new screen.

Wipe the HD and try to sell the old laptop on CL. You might be surprised what you get for it.

Good luck

Huh, I pick mine up like that all the time. Guess I won't be doing that anymore. I always wince a tiny bit when I feel the flex in the screen.

Because not everyone is 100% perfect all of the time. Don't be a dickscarf.

Keeping an expensive, fragile electronic device off the floor doesn't have anything to do with being perfect.

.... dickscarf? lolwut?
