Cracked iphone 4 glass

I pride my self on a spotless iphone 4, but today I lost it. It dropped and the front glass is shattered. The lcd and digitizer are still working well. I have been looking around on the internet for solutions. I find sites likes this http://www.zeetron.com/products/iPhone-4-Full-Assembly-Black-(Digitizer%2bLCD).html
but they have more than what I need. I just need the glass like this

But I can't find any how to's on fixing just the glass. So do you think the ebay glass is legitimate, whats your best advice for this situation. This really hurts.

Thanks you

The iphone 4 is like the 2G, you have to replace the whole front part.
You can't replace just the glass.
The LCD is glued to the digitizer and glass at the factory.
I highly doubt you can seperate the LCD intact.
I have taken apart the 2G and no way I'm able to seperate just the LCD.

Apple will replace it for you for $200.
You can buy the front ~$129 give or take and do it yourself but its a pain in the ass.

I would try these guys before going for a the Chinese stuff on Ebay.
Or you might as well go for the white kit since you are replace it anyway.

Thanks, you guys pretty much confirmed my hunch. looks like I'm going to buy the $129 screen and fix it my self

129$ to void the warranty and take the chance of screwing something up, or 199$ to get a replacement from Apple.

id spend the 199 and get it done by apple. that way if it doesnt work right later for any reason you can send it back to them. saving 70 and voiding your warranty on a $600 (?) phone is not worth it imo

It occurred to me what if I sold my cracked iphone like this guy http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-iPhone-4-...=Cell_Phones&hash=item45f861492c#ht_500wt_898

and bought a new one

I also gave at&t a call, they say I can pay $325(early upgrade) get a new iphone and NEW PHONE NUMBER. I could then offset that cost my selling my broken phone.

I was kind of hoping they would let me buy a $600 iphone - the 6 months I have had = 500 so I could sell my old one and not pay so much in the end. Do you guys have any better ideas?

Apparently, Apple will void your warranty if you don't have it repaired by them. 🙁

It's unfortunate but that's almost a given. It's why a lot of gadget companies void warranties if you so much as open it up. Most times they can't prove you opened it up but that's a different story.

isnt an iphone $200 with new contract? what good is the warranty if you have to pay $200 to have it repaired? what exactly does the warranty cover or do for you?

The manufacturer's (Apple) warranty might not cover drop damage. The OP didn't say whether or not he purchased an extended warranty which might cover the repair in this case.

An iPhone 4 is $600 off contract. A 2 year contract isn't free you know.
