Uhg, i just got the CUSL2-C in the mail today, brand new everything, just put clip on pushed it down and crack. looked at it, and it was cracked right down the middle of the little plastic part that sticks out of the socket. I really really really really dont want to have to send it back, and wait for them to decide what to do with it, and then send me another one!!
Has anyone sucsessfully fixed one with glue or anything, or is it hopeless just send it back.

:(((

Thx for your help

Eh... u'll probably have to send it back. broken things are hard to fix when it comes to computers. especially the MB.. why not send it back? its still under warranty.

because for the past few days i couldnt wait for it to get here now it will probably be few more weeks.

It cracked really really really easy, ive put together a few computers before and never had any problems with anything. What are the chances that it was just defective, already part cracked or something.

well i sent in a RMA request, i did look at the stuff at overclockers.com most of them wont work on socket MB, too much stuff in the way.
the little metal hooks would probably be the best way, but it would still be hard to find something that will work like that
Metal hooks i talkin about

I dont even understand what he did in this one, glued something on there:

I asked them if it is posable if they can ship out another one while this one is being sent in, they could charge me for the 2nd one and then just refund me the for the first one when they got it if that was posable. Hopefully they wont give me a hard time!!

Well, doesn't look like I'd be able to send it to the place i bought it from, they want me to send it to the manufacture...

Forget that, i got some 5-15sec cure cyanoacrylate glue(hobby stuff) hopefully it will be strong enough. Im going to let it dry at least a few hours before attempting to put something on it. And if that dont work...

Uhh Glue the bracket right on the motherboard? i guess

Did you order with a CC?

Some gold cards have a product protection guarantee... might be useful.

Could also order another one and ask for a refund (or ask if they will cross ship for you).

That's the disadvantage to mail order, and even worse w/ pricewatch mail order--vendors are very hard to deal with. Best of luck!

This is what they sent me:

Dear customer,

Do you mean the clip was broken so it cannot hold the heatsink?
If yes, it's physical damage due to misuse which was not covered under the
warranty and no replacement will be allowed from our vendor.
Please let us know if this is the case.
If it's not physical damage, please let us know and we'll issue you a RMA#
for replacement.
Thanks.

Even if they do accept it they wont refund shipping, plus i have to pay for shipping to return it. Would there be a chance if i said no it didn't break, it is mis-shaped or something do you think they would deny my refund after i sent it to them and they took a look at it?

:|

Also my glue job looks just like it was brand new, except for a little spot thats shiny. I can still smell the glue, but if i tug on it some it will support that, i dont want to try mouting anything untill its fully cured.

Get a Taisol CGK742092 cooler- it uses all three tabs on both sides to mount the HSF. One missing or broken tab will not affect your mounting of this Taisol unit. Great HSF- especially if your OC'ing. All manufactures should employ this technique in manufacturing.
