CPUz on Intel (Dell) Laptop

Hi,

Just a daft question - I have built a number of gaming PC's over the past years for myself and freinds and have used CPUz to keep basic tabs on memory and CPU speeds.

I just (for the fun of it) ran CPUz on my Dell 2.0Ghz Latitude Intel - work laptop - and it showed odd figures!

This is the first time I have ever ran CPUz on a laptop and even an Intel system, so can anyone advise why System Properties show correct 2.0Ghz processor, but CPUz is showing FSB - 133Mhz, BUS Speed - 532 Mhz, Multipler x6 and this gives CPU speed at 798Mhz!!

Memory reports as Frequency 266Mhz, FSB😀RAM - 1:2 so this sort of explains the CPU FSB at 133Mhz, but why is CPUz showing my nice work laptop is running at less than half the speed it is supposed to and System Properties shows??

798Mhz is not 2Ghz!

Anyone who can advise would help, as I say I haven;t tinkered with laptops before and this just seemed odd.

Laptops, unlike desktops, have thermal limits. All current Intel Pentium M/Core and AMD Turion processors throttle clock speed via the chip multiplier. When idle, it runs at the lowest multiplier to save on power and heat. When needed, it will automatically throttle.

There's no reason to be confused about your FSB. Intel quad-pumps their FSB: 4x133 = 533 effective clock.
