I was at work on thrusday and my brother calls me up. He saids my computers alarm is going off and asks me what to do. So I just tell him to turn it off and I will figure it out when I get home.
Once I got home I powered it up and the CPU (Athlon XP 2000+) was running at 47C. Now for my system this is high, it has never went over 43 before. So I look in and everything is running just fine. I can play games no problem. So I then start feeling around inside the case for hot areas. Once I put my hand over my graphics card (back side) it was really hot. Its a Radeon 32 DDR. (I know theres probably a number for it but I don't know it). So I get out a mirror and look at the top of the card and my fan it not spinning! Hmm so I turn it all off take it out and take the fan off. I test it out with my extra powersupply and all is fine. So I put it back on and when I went to push the plug back into the card I heard a little snap. Not the kind of oh crap I broke it but the sound of something snaping back into place. Once I put it all back in and started it up everything was just fine. My temp at idle was 35C and under load 42.
I can't belive my that since my card was not getting cooled the back side got hot and the heat traveld strait up to the CPU and raised the temp that much.
Have any of you had your power connection on your graphics card loosen like this?
