CPU's crazy hot...

So I just moved my computer into a new case (from a Cooler Master Centurion 5 into an Antec P193). I have a i7 930 overclocked to 3.5Ghz with a hyper 212 Plus and in the Centurion the CPU would be around 60 degrees Celsius maxed and the cores would be in the low 70's. But now in the Antec the CPU maxes in the 80's and the cores at like 98 degrees which makes my computer blue screen and shut down. It would happen every time I try to do anything more than just browse the internet. To try and solve this I put the CPU down to the stock frequency but this problem still happens. When I run prime95 the temperature will climb that high in less than minute.
I think I might know what is causing the problem, but it seems weird to me and I though I would just check here. In order to get my hyper 212 plus into the case I had to snip off less than half a centimeter of the copper pipes on one end of the cooler. I then closed then up again with a pair of pliers. I thought it wouldn't make too much of a difference since it's so little of the pipe and I closed them up, but maybe it does. Just wondering what your guys's input is. Thanks.

This seems awfully lot like a troll post, but if its not I apologize.

The liquid evaporated out of the "sealed" heatpipe.

tvandoor, first let me welcome you to the forums! welcome aboard.

Second, let me explain Ben90's reaction...the reason he's suggestion your post could be a troll post is because your action (I clipped off the end of the heat-pipe...) is one of those "doh! he did what?" type actions.

Like someone setting their house on fire and then posting "hey guys, so like my house turned to ashes and I'm really not sure why, all I did was set it on fire and the poof, no more house :( you think the fire had anything to do with that?"

So your post is like you are asking us to state the obvious, which is what troll posts are all about sometimes...yes you destroyed your heatsink's ability to efficiently transfer heat from your CPU's IHS to the HSF's fins by breaching the seal in the tube and letting all the liquid escape as a gas.

Hopefully it wasn't too toxic because you likely breathed it for a while without realizing it. kinda like standing inside your house after you light it on fire. not good
