I'm running CPUIdle Extreme because I have my old P4 3.0GHz OC'd to 3.6GHz. I'll soon be upgrading to a Q6600 but in the meantime I figured I'd see what this P4 can do. Until recently it was always in an Intel board so it has never been overclocked.

It'll still be a few more paychecks until I get my Q6600 and I don't wanna cook this P4 so I installed CPUIdle. The thing is I don't know if CPUIdle is working or not. According to the CPUIdle numbers in the taskbar my CPU is never going past 99% free so I'm wondering if CPUIdle is even doing anything. The way I understand CPUIdle to work is that it shuts down the CPU when it's idle but since my CPU is never getting past 99% free I don't know if it can do what it's supposed to do. If anyone can fill me in on this I'd appreciate it.

You don't need CPU Idle on any recent OS since Windows 98 as the OS already does the same thing whenever the CPU is idle.
