CPU-Z reporting 1.7V core voltage on non overclocked 3930K?

I just fired up the new rig and opened CPU-Z, its reporting 1200mhz which is understandable due to the automatic underclock the CPU/Chipset does under idle or near-idle conditions. QPI is reporting at 3200mhz

What really caught my eye is that the core voltage is reporting at 1.762V isnt that a hell of a lot higher that it's supposed to be? I was expecting something like 1.2 to 1.3 volts.

Whats going on? Or am I just being stupid...

This is on a intel DX79SR motherboard w/ 16gb of Crucial Ballistix tactical memory.

Thanks!

Check the core temps. If they are like 30-35 idle, then it has to be wrong. Repoort back with the temps. U recommend coretemp.

Core temps at idle are 26C to 29C in a 22C room, just ran a quick prime95 test and they topped out at 67C at my hottest core.

Could it be reporting the Processor PLL voltage??

Odd, I doing a mild overclock to 4000 and running Prime95 and now its reading .630V and my temps are 71C

I seem to remember that happening to me a while ago as well. It scared the crap out of me and I rushed into BIOS to fix it, but there was nothing to fix. Go to BIOS and check your voltage to be sure. Find another prog to monitor voltage as well.

@ OP

Check out this post from yesterday. This forum user has even AMD chip and CPU reports 1.8V under Vcore section. I think you can safely say that's not possible so most likely it's pulling the info from the wrong sensor.

That's nothing. CPU-Z reports my vcore as 2.220V. Of course, that is wrong. I'm running a G630 Sandy Bridge CPU in a Gateway slimline tower.
