CPU-Z Readings on E6300

the multiplier keeps fluctuating between x6 and x7 and the voltage keeps changing, too. i don't get it. right now, it's holding steady at x6 and then it'll jump to x7 every so often, then right back to x6, making my computer run at 1.6 ghz instead of the standard 1.86ghz.

what's the deal???

it means EIST (Speedstep) is enabled. It lowers your multiplier during low-usage times to conserve power, and then ups back to default 7x when under load.

you don't have to, unless you 1) want full power all the time or 2) want to OC.
it saves electricity so your choice.

i actually don't know. it could be your chipset. i had the same problem for a while and i can't remember how i fixed that.

Maybe try locking your PCI Bus at standard frequency when you overclock. I know I can do that on my P5B.

If the PCI network card does not work when the CPU is overclocked it's very likely the non-standard PCI frequency is the root cause. As xvys says, locking your PCI bus to 33MHz should solve the problem.
