UPS delivered an MSI H55-GD65 to me today to replace the H55-ED55 that wasn't acting right. Installed my i3-540, Diamond 4890 and 4 gigs of Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 ram. Fire everything up, fire up CPU-Z and prime95 to run a baseline on this board before I start OC'ing it. First thing I notice is the Core Voltage box is grayed out. This was not the case with this same CPU in the 2 other boards its been installed in (Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H and an MSI H55-ED55. Gigabyte was sold and the ED55 was RMA'd)

The board also doesn't seem to be as willing to OC as the prior 2, failing to post on a bclock of 190 or higher (hit 222 on the gigy, and 210 on the ED55)

I've updated the bios, updated CPU-Z to the latest version and still no reading. the bios reports vcore, but I cant get any readings once in windows.

Any suggestions?

Usually the VCore is read from the LPC Super I/O chip, which measures it. There exist many different LPC Super I/O chips, and maybe CPU-Z just doesn't support the one used on your mainboard.

I think the MSI H55-GD65 uses a Fintek F71889 (big chip just below the audio connectors). You could try and run the Open Hardware Monitor and see if it can read the VCore. If it can't find it, then you could post an OpenHardwareMonitor.Report.txt (create it with File / Save Report) and I can try to figure out what the problem is.

If you need really need the reading in CPU-Z, then you will have to contact CPUID.

Thanks for the input, however when I tried to fire up the board to try out your suggestion the system wont boot at all, fans spin up, but no post. pulled the GPU and tried the integrated graphics, and moved the ram around to see if it was a bad stick or bad slot. No Dice, same thing. I'm calling ewiz in the morning to RMA this board. No more MSI boards for me, thats 2 boards, back to back, that did not work right out of the box.
