Trying to figure this out. Got a Ryzen 3 1200 CPU (3.1 nominal, 3.4Ghz Turbo), manually overclocked in an ASRock AB350M board, to 3.800Ghz @ 1.3500V. Fully stable, as far as I can tell.
Well, in Windows at the Desktop, with CPU-Z running in the corner, Firefox nightly 59a1 for Windows, and Task Manager running, showing the "Performance", "CPU" tab, it shows "Speed", and at idle, shows 3.37Ghz to 3.49Ghz. Yet, CPU-Z, on the "CPU" tab, shows the clock speed to be locked at 3.790Ghz, x38 multi, 99.76Mhz bus speed.
Can they both be correct? Can the multiplier and external clock be locked at those numbers in CPU-Z, and yet, the CPU behaves like it's running at 3.37-3.47Ghz?
Is there some sort of clock-modulation / stretching / throttling going on on-chip, to save a little power, that's not visible externally (not dropping external multi or input clock)?
It's really curious, I'm wondering who else is seeing this.
If I select "Bench" in CPU-Z, and click "Stress CPU", then Task Manager's "Speed" reading, pins to 3.79Ghz.
It should be noted, that Task Manager also displays "Base Speed" on the right hand side underneath the graph, and that is locked to 3.79Ghz.
So, what causes the discrepancy between CPU-Z's clock reading, which matches with Task Manager's "Base Speed", and Task Manager's (current) "Speed" reading?
