Holy crap. Isn't it running HOT??? Im also running an a64 3500 venice and ive OCed to 2640Mhz and im still at stock voltage. How come you have it SO high?
That's seriously high. I got nervous running at 1.65v & dropped my O/C to get it down to 1.55v.
I recommend you read this thread http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=28&threadid=1773169&enterthread=y. Particularly look at the messages pm has posted. He works for Intel & knows his stuff. Basically what he says is that increased voltage is much worse for a cpu than MHz or heat and that there is an exponential reduction in operating lifetime with increases in voltage. If I were you I wouldn't keep it that high for long.
Wouldn't do so too... You do have a very good cooler, but nonetheless, 1.7+V is waaay too high for an AMD64... Are these the voltages you set in the BIOS, or do you read 'em with CPU-Z or so...?
Anyone remember SNDS? Sudden Northwood Death Syndrome. Many people had premature failures of the first 130nm CPUs that were overclocked high and with high voltage.
EDIT: Forgot to add that it wasn't a theoretical "oh, 20 year lifespan reduced to 5" but a "OMG it's been running great for 5 months and then BLAMMO it died."
